Macromechanical Failure Criteria: Elasticity, Plasticity and Numerical Applications for the Non-Linear Masonry Modelling

Sometimes it is difficult to choose the most appropriate failure criterion for problem analyzed. For brittle materials, attention must be paid availability of experimental data and calibration representative parameters, within chosen criterion. The work herein presented, starting with an overview on machromechanical criteria, analysed in Haigh-Westergaard Stress Space, investigates suitability Mohr-Coulomb, Drucker-Prager Concrete Damaged Plasticity criteria masonry structures, underlining their specific characteristics implementation FEM simulations. Pavia Door Wall campaign under pseudo-static cyclic test considered as benchmark study. results tests are compared a FE model developed ABAQUS computer program considering several equivalent frame approach. Among investigated able capture actual behaviour walls monotonic excitation. In particular, thanks adaptability Guo’s definition uniaxial behavior, catching variation cohesion evolution damage better comparison other addressed criteria.
